Football is a funny game. You sometimes have those days where nothing seems to go your way. Today was one of those days for Clube.
Clube entered the contest full of confidence after some positive form in lead-up matches. We hit the back of the net after 5 minutes through debutant Hritish Kakati pouncing on a loose ball only for the goal to be chalked-off for offside after a conference between the referee and his linesmen.
Not to be deterred, Clube - whilst not playing our best football continued to dominate possession, territory and chance-creation throughout the first half, restricting our opponents to tactics of sitting deep and awaiting limited counter-attacks. A concentration lapse late in the first half saw a Reservoir player lurking un-marked in the box from a corner loop a ball just over the head of stand-in keeper Nathan Simpson as we went to the break 1-0 down.
A disappointing second-half performance followed as Clube succumb to our opponents' negative tactics and failed to play our own game. An uncustomary loss of possession in the midfield saw our opponents gain a rare sight at goal with the shot finding the net from outside the box. A fiery altercation between Nathan and a Reservoir player resulted in both players seeing red as our opponents racked up yellows all across the park.
A flurry of chances from Clube towards the end of the match resulted in getting one goal back from Hritish but it came to late to find the equaliser.
Onwards to next week.
